Steven Ball

Steven has been a leadership, team development and culture change coach and facilitator for thirty years working with over 200 organisations, thousands of leaders in seven countries and in every sector of industry and government.

With Life Time Accreditation in the LSI tool Steven has debriefed over 800 leaders in seven countries and in every sector from local government, to finance, to mining, to sporting groups.

         I have worked with over two hundred organisations in seven countries and coached over 800 leaders and implemented leadership development and culture change processes to dozens of organisations.

In particular I implemented culture, leadership, coaching skills  and team development within the RAAF(10,000 personnel), Westpac(4000 staff) , Alcoa, ING, DairyNZ, Australian Defence and recently rolled out a personal and organisational change program to 7000 Fonterra staff around the world.

Within local government I have worked and coached  within the City of Whittlesea, Melton ,South Sydney , Warringah Council, Shire of Bellarine, Gladstone, City of Banyule and Shire of Burra. and coached a number of managers at the  City of Palmerston and the Aldermen of the City of Darwin.

I am on the Coaching Panels for the City of Melbourne and the Moonee Valley City Council.

I have worked with many professional sporting groups around culture, team and leadership development including Port Power, Swans, Richmond FC, St Kilda FC and the South Australian Redbacks. I have presented to AFL coaches on leadership at the AFL Draft Camp. Most recently I coached the ten coaches  and the player leaders at one AFL club

In the last few years I coached over 200 leaders within the City of Palmerston, Australian Super, Power and Water, Cancer Council, PHN, KPMG, Power Projects, Credit Union SA ,NT Education ,Dept of Communities WA, Dept of Chief Minister, Victoria Terminals and Fonterra Singapore.

Also, I developed a bespoke leadership and team development process and coached the ELTs and middle leaders within the Credit Union SA, Data Action, Dairy NZ, Power Projects, KPMG and Power and Water NT and worked with three Boards.

I am currently delivering online leadership and coaching skills programs to a number of organisations and with participants from six countries including Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines and the Netherlands, NZ and Indonesia and from every State in Australia.

I have been contracted to coach the team leaders, supervisors and managers of an indigenous owned company in the NT and have worked with indigenous groups throughout Australia including the teachers on TIWI Island which included individual coaching.

I have Life Time Accreditation in the Human Synergistics 360 tools of LSI, Leadership Impact, Managers Impact, the  OCI and Coaching for Superior Performance .

My book on coaching young people was published by the AFL and presented to 3000 junior coaches around Australia,

I am comfortable working with the ELT, indoor and outdoor staff and the Board of Directors.

Steven’s coaching process is the Socratic style in which by listening, challenging and asking questions we are able to move forward and to also get to the real issue. Steven frequently employs a survey such as the Human Synergistics tools of the LSI 360, Leadership Impact and Coach simulations to add depth to the process. Steven’s most recent contract was with the Melbourne leadership team of a major engineering group in which, over the coaching contract of 10 months, the LT improved in 10 of the 12 measured styles and were upskilled across a range of areas.

To support and embed the curriculum I am able to get to the heart of the matter via self awareness and the Immunity to Change process and by helping the leader to understand their behavioural triggers. I frequently coach around specific staff issues that are of concern to the leader such as addressing below the line behaviour.

I use simulations at times to assist the leader to reflect on their approach and the efficacy of that approach. The ’ Coach Co achieving’ has proved particularly successful in providing an interesting and unique approach to learning about culture and effective change strategies

Steven has coached at all levels, from the Board to aspiring leaders. From working with the mid level managers of an energy group in Singapore to front line supervisors in the NT supporting their organisational culture change and leadership effectiveness, Steven can successfully support individuals across industries and levels. He has also coached BDMs from a range of financial groups , senior leaders in education and government, and AFL football coaches.

Steven has a reputation for coaching coaches which include Westpac managers, local and State government managers, AFL Coaches and Assistant Coaches

Through effective coaching of the leaders a SA Defence supplier was able to demonstrate a 40 % improvement in the leadership teams synergy and effective communication.
