90 minutes
Some workplace conversations are simply harder than others. Whether it's addressing underperformance, raising a concern with a colleague, or navigating an emotionally charged moment, most people find themselves hesitating or avoiding the conversation altogether.
This focused 90-minute session gives participants a practical framework to approach difficult conversations with greater confidence and composure. Rather than covering every nuance of interpersonal communication, this short workshop zeroes in on the moments that matter most: how to prepare for a challenging exchange, how to open it constructively, and how to stay grounded when tension arises.
Participants leave with immediately applicable skills they can use the very next day, not a comprehensive toolkit, but a targeted set of strategies for the conversations they've been putting off.
Team leaders and managers who need to address issues quickly and confidently
Emerging leaders preparing for the realities of people management
Professionals who find certain conversations difficult to initiate or sustain
Anyone who wants to handle challenging interpersonal moments more effectively
Best suited to individuals who want practical, immediately usable strategies rather than an in-depth exploration of communication theory
Difficult Conversations Quick Reference Card (conversation opener templates and de-escalation phrases)
Preparation Checklist (a simple guide to getting ready for a high-stakes conversation)
A real conversation you've been avoiding or finding challenging (optional, used for a brief reflection exercise)
Pen and notepad
