Professional background
Nicole Heffernan is an ICF (International Coach Federation) accredited Leadership Development Coach with over 10 years of coaching and consulting experience. She specialises in assisting leaders, at all stages of their journey, to achieve their potential, and to get the most out of both themselves and their people, through a mix of coaching and mentoring. Nicole has worked as a coach across both Australia and overseas, in office and field-based environments. Previous coaching assignments have included in-field and shadow coaching in remote mining and construction operations, group coaching via telephone, and individual coaching within an office environment. Nicole has provided coaching to a range of industries including public sector, construction, mining, processing, oil and gas, power generation, agriculture and finance. Coaching process
Nicole’s coaching approach uses a client-centred philosophy. She helps clients to clarify where they want to be, where they currently are, what obstacles are in their way and strategies forward. She draws on evidence-based theories and methodologies from Psychology and Neuroscience, including Cognitive Behavioural Theory, Neuroplasticity, Positive Psychology and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, in helping the client to tap into the “essence” of the issue or challenges they are experiencing and to build on current strengths and unlock undiscovered capabilities. Nicole’s coaching style is heavily relationship-based. She has a friendly and open approach and believes strongly that the client is the expert in terms of knowing themselves, and their unique circumstances and experiences. Nicole adopts a coaching approach utilising powerful questioning to assist clients to gain new perspectives and understand their challenges in a different way. She also shares frameworks and models that can provide new viewpoints for clients, and then assists them in creating actions that are not only sustainable but create meaningful change.
