Based on refereed research, the Decision Hierarchy provides clarity of the steps in a logical progression through the thought, deduction, and decision process within an organisation.
Core elements:
1. Why does an organisation exist?
2. What are the specific economic, social, cultural, regulatory, and economic environments from which objectives must be satisfied?
3. What are the products and services that are instrumental in generating the ability to deliver objectives?
4. How to get the products/services to market, support them and generate communications that affect decision makers.
5. What people and systems are needed to do this?
6. What is the optimal management structure?
7. Only when these tasks have been effectively completed, can an organisation pull together these divergent (and often conflicting) elements and call it a business, corporate or strategic plan.
This Hierarchy establishes the relationships between precedent and antecedent events in the decision making
cycle and thereby allows planners to ensure appropriate and logical flow of managerial decision making.
Both directors and management obtain benefit from having a "simple" agreed way of thinking about the organisation.
A 10-page article explaining the Decision Hierarchy is provided.
A 1-page Decision Hierarchy is provided that managers can carry with them to all meetings.
Presentation slides are available if requested.
