Governance is the framework designed to assist project managers and organisations to ensure that they don't just deliver projects successfully, though they do so in a way that is measurable, transparent and with the consideration to support projects through effective communications and decision making. Regardless of the size of a project, whether it is innovative or similar to other projects, governance and support will be needed.
The type of governance, and level of support required will vary between the different types of projects and their complexity. This course, Governance in a Project Environment, considers project governance and how we can tell if it is effective. Project administration may range from an agreed governance framework built using policy, procedures and processes through to a dedicated Project Management Office (PMO).
