Lean isn't just about process improvement, but about changing the organisational culture to be one of continuous improvement.
The 5-why's of Lean is an engaging, interactive workshop designed to take participants through the origins of Lean, basic tools and a simulation activity, designed to demonstrate the power of implementing the Lean mindset and behaviours to truly create a problem solving culture. It is a great introduction to give participants an understanding of business improvement prior to embarking on a larger business improvement journey.
The workshop has been designed to cater for all levels of the business from front line operator, office, supporting functions through to middle and upper leadership levels.

Barrie is a multi-industry experienced business improvement coach and consultant that has focused his career on Lean and Six Sigma methodology to drive sustainable continuous improvement. Barrie is able to assist organisations to drive operational excellence and culture change through the coaching and mentoring of both individuals and teams and by assisting them to implement their learnings on real workplace projects.
Currently working with several global brand names in mining, manufacturing, recruitment and professional services, Barrie assists his clients to build sustainable internal business improvement capability by focusing on developing internal subject matter experts at various levels of the organisation in a wide suite of Lean and Six Sigma tools. Under his ‘Customer First’ business transformation program, Barrie focuses on developing the mindset, workforce and forecast planning to enable the culture to change from business operations to a customer centric view.
A key to Barrie’s ability to consistently deliver results is through his ability to engage with others and build whole of business engagement. He has strong communication skills and the ability to work at the board level through to the shop floor on business improvement strategy. This ability is further enhanced through Barrie’s commercial acumen helping business develop and envision their future state through clear solution definitions.
Being an experienced facilitator, Barrie uses his past 16-year career at Toyota (UK) car manufacturing and his 10 year Australian consulting experience to achieve results across organisations of all sizes. Trained by Master Japanese trainers during his time with Toyota Operations, Engineering and Pre-Production design teams, he understands the importance of collaborating with and engaging the workforce, influencing stakeholders and building professional relationships. Barrie is extremely motivated and passionate about developing and leading agile high performing and diverse teams and promoting customer centric thought processes. He thrives on the challenges working towards process and operational excellence.
