You Fall to the Level of Your Training

This article started with a podcast I recorded the other day..

Then my thinking went deeper..

Just imagine for a moment..

You and your partner have had a lovely meal down town..

You’re walking back to your car..

You’re walking towards the pay station in the car park..

No one else is around..

You already feel a little uncomfortable..

Then it happens..

Someone jumps out from a dark corner with a knife in their hand and says..

‘Give me your wallet..’

What do you do?

If you’re a black belt martial artist you’re going to be in a completely different situation to someone who has had absolutely no self-defence training..

As far back at 650 BC the principle says.

“We do not rise to the level of our expectations. We fall to the level

of our training.”

– Archilochus, Greek Soldier, Poet, c. 650 BC

‘You react and respond to situations in your personal and business life to your highest level of the training you have had.’

Your level of training will determine your results.

The highly trained black belt might either tell the person to take a walk.. or..

Wait until they make a move then put them into a hold that freezes them..

Then calls the police to make a citizens arrest..

The untrained person might just hand over their wallet..

(and be left absolutely traumatised and feeling terrible..)

Either way.. your level of training will determine the options, choices and results you get..

If you’re in business and you don’t have enough leads..

Your training in marketing and lead generation will determine what your next steps are..

If you’re getting leads but getting too many No’s.. If you conversion rate is too low, same again..

Your level of training will determine your choices and your results..

Solution..

If you want better choices and better results.. get better training..get better mentoring

Thanks for reading this post.
