In this full day version of this workshop, participants don't just learn skills, but have the opportunity to practice live realistic conversations with improvisation actors.
Using her experience as a Psychologist working with couples and groups, Lauren's Important Conversations Masterclass is grounded in a deep understanding of relationship dynamics. Lauren assists participants to understand why others behave the way they do and how fundamental social systems are to human well-being. Lauren focusses on how to create a strong foundation in work relationships. She assists participants to identify key moments when previous work relationships became problematic and what tools could have been used to course correct.
Lauren also focusses on how to have a productive difficult conversation. She emphasises being "other centric" and using this perspective to guide the timing and pace of the conversation. Lauren covers the mechanics of having a challenging conversation including a simple conversation framework.
This workshop is for leaders who want to improve the way they have challenging conversations ranging from performance feedback, to resolving interpersonal issues, to discussing uncomfortable topics. In particular, this full day workshop is for leaders who want to practice the skills of important conversations, not just learn the theory. In the afternoon of the workshop, participants will work in small groups (up to 5 people) working with a skilled improvisation actor having realistic conversations and getting feedback on how to make the conversations more effective.
Lauren has previously delivered versions of this workshop to a range of leaders including engineers and other technical professionals in the resources and utility sectors, senior doctors, allied health professionals, market researchers and arts professionals.
This workshop includes Lauren facilitating for the whole day and 4 skilled improvisation actors joining her the second half of the day. To ensure a quality learning experience, each actor will work with up to 5 participants practicing challenging conversations. Groups above 20 people can be accommodated, but would require an additional actor, for an additional fee.
Lauren will also provide summary notes and suggested further reading after the workshop.
