About the coach
Professional background
An experienced career development practitioner, Lois supports people to harness their talents and drive their own careers. Following a corporate career with ASX and Australia’s largest superannuation fund, she re-careered to work as a career counsellor and career development coach, gaining a Master of Career Development.
Lois has worked as a career advisor and career development coach within professional and elite sport, corporate, government, and non-profits. She has held leadership and board positions within the non-profit and tertiary sector and is a Fellow of Leadership WA and a Churchill Fellow. She is author of “Make Your Move: Career Dynamics for Changing Times.”
Lois blends workshop delivery for organisations including the Australian Institute of Sport with 1:1 career development coaching and career counselling with individuals.
Coaching process
As a career specialist coach, Lois focusses on individual needs, with a person-centred approach involving discovery of values and strengths. She is accredited in several tools including the Expert Strengths Profile and Leadership profile which helps her coachees to gain a greater sense of self, acknowledge strengths as well as identify areas for development.
Lois works across multiple industries and sectors, from executives and senior leaders through to newer entrants, with an enviable network. She helps people to identify their career direction and activate a career action plan, whether for career development or career transition.
Coaching achievements and results
Lois works with people who are often motivated to achieve but are uncertain of their career direction and way forward. Working in partnership, she helps her coachees to gain greater clarity and identify steps for their career development. She is often called upon to assist with ‘tricky transitions’ which may involve returning to the workplace after an extended break, stepping into a new or leadership role or involving a transition following an organisational restructure. She helps and encourages the people she coaches to identify what they have to offer and plan the next steps.
Lois currently works with elite athletes and coaches referred from the Australian Institute of Sport and professional sport, as well as executives from a variety of organisations and sectors.
